Our structure for learning the requisite knowledge for a particular area of study is Knowledge Organisers. Knowledge organisers are a summary of the key facts and essential knowledge that pupils need about a unit of work or a curriculum subject. We believe that pupils being able to come to the lesson with a foundation of knowledge enables them to access activities which promote higher order thinking skills and so learn in more depth. Every term, new knowledge organisers are issued and studied both in guided sessions in school and more independently for home learning. The knowledge is quizzed at regular intervals and then re-quizzed some time later to ensure that the knowledge has ‘stuck’.
The knowledge organisers are progressive and link to the current project outcome.
